2019-2020 Best Doctoral Thesis in Soil-Roots Hydro-Mechanical Interactions

Alessandro Fraccica (CIMNE – Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya) has been awarded the 1st Edition of the Prize “Antonio Soriano”, for the best doctoral thesis defended in Spain, between 2019 and 2020, within the field of Geotechnical Engineering. The Prize has been granted by the Spanish Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (https://semsig.org/resultados-primer-premio-antonio-soriano/). The winning thesis is entitled “EXPERIMENTAL STUDY AND NUMERICAL MODELLING OF SOIL-ROOTS HYDRO-MECHANICAL INTERACTIONS” and has been co-directed by Enrique Romero (CIMNE – Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya) and Thierry Fourcaud (Université de Montpellier – AMAP – CIRAD). On April 28th the winning thesis will be presented online (in Spanish) within the annual conference of the awarding Society.
